History
Anand Niketan College is a brain child of Padmshree Shraddheya Baba Amte, a world renowned social worker and an apostle of altruism. Our college has been incepted on June 20, 1964. It comprises three faculties Arts, Commerce and Science. Promising students in Warora and its close vicinity had to tread miles long to eliminate the darkest nook of illiteracy from their lives. The prime objective behind inception of the college was to make higher education accessible to the rural youth belonging to backward communities. Anand Niketan College is the sole one that sustains its dignity in the arena of quality education.
All the three faculties were introduced with its outset on June 20, 1964. History as a subject was also introduced in the faculty of Arts. Prof. Thengadi was the head of the department and sustained the responsibility till 1965.
After his resignation Prof H. C. Lohakare took the charge of the department and successfully run the department up to 1993. Prof. Arvind Dhoke was appointed as the successor to him. History is a single section subject having three sections of three year degree course i.e B. A. 1, 2 and 3. So, on its outset it is one-man department as workload reaches to fifteen periods in a week. The department started PG course from 2021. At junior division Prof. Uttam Kharale, Prof. Chandrashekhar Deshpande , Prof. Uttam Meshram and Prof. Suresh Burhan rendered their services.
